FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation)

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) is one of the oldest and most widely used hair transplant techniques. In this method, a thin strip of skin is surgically removed from the donor area at the back of the head. This strip is then meticulously dissected under a microscope into individual follicular units. The prepared grafts are carefully implanted into balding areas. The main advantage of FUT is that it allows a large number of grafts to be harvested at once, making it ideal for covering extensive bald spots in a shorter time. However, it does leave a fine linear scar in the donor area. FUT also offers a high graft survival rate since the follicles spend less time outside the body. Recovery can be slightly longer than with FUE, and stitches are typically removed within 10-12 days. Although less common today, FUT remains a reliable option for patients needing dense transplants, especially those with thick hair shafts and strong donor areas.
